2022 - Present

Since the election of 1988, the system remains until now. From the 1980s to the present, there were major and minor events in Korea. There were positive events, as Korea hosted the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the 2002 Korea-Japan Worldcup, and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. There were also negative events, like the 1995 Sampoong Department Store collapse, which took away more than 500 lives, and the 2014 Sinking of Sewol, which took away more than 300 lives, mostly with teenagers. The first-ever women president, President Park was impeached by the public for abuse of authority in 2017. Korea’s economy increased rapidly, which currently is 12th place worldwide for GDP. Samsung became one of the most famous electronic companies in the world, competing with the biggest companies in the world like Apple. However, it always didn’t increase, as the economic crisis happened with South Korea and the International Monetary Fund in 1997 when a lot of people suffered. Korea’s culture has also been worldwide. The music industry has enhanced, with BTS currently on one of the most famous bands worldwide. Media has also enhanced, with the movie Parasite becoming the first Asian movie to win the “Academy Award for Best Picture” in 2019. The events that happened throughout the past 30 years, throughout the past 100 years, and throughout the past 700 years show us how our future is also going to look like. Korea will keep on improving and marking its indication worldwide, but it still has problems to solve, like the lowest birth rate in the world. History is the mirror of the future that we will live on. By examining and studying the historical events, Korea will be able to prepare and meet a better future. This does not only limited to Korea, but to any other country worldwide, and to the global community. For the future.
